Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is a popular resort town located on the southern coast of the island of Lanzarote, which is part of the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and warm, sunny weather year-round.

The main beach in Playa Blanca is the eponymous Playa Blanca beach, which stretches for over a mile and is backed by a long promenade lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. The beach is a mix of golden sand and pebbles and is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.

There are several other beaches in the area, including the secluded Papagayo Beaches, which are a short drive or boat ride away and are known for their pristine white sand and turquoise waters. The nearby Marina Rubicon is also a popular destination, with a range of restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as a weekly market selling local crafts and souvenirs.

Aside from its beaches, Playa Blanca is also home to several interesting cultural attractions. The Castillo de las Coloradas is a historic fortress located on a hill overlooking the sea, while the nearby Timanfaya National Park is a unique landscape of volcanic mountains and lava fields.

Overall, Playa Blanca is a charming and relaxing destination that offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a quiet beach holiday, an active water sports adventure, or a cultural exploration of the island’s rich history and natural wonders.

Fabulous marina. We often walked there for coffee, beers or a meal while staying in Playa Blanca. Great variety of eateries and shops. There is a small market there each week. Spectacular views.

Playa Flamingo is a smaller beach but lovely. Well sheltered making it ideal for gentle swimming and playing in the sea with smaller children. Various food places near by but no toilet facilities close to the beach.

Stunning! I loved the whole resort. They had a good mix of the usual tat shops and some private more interesting shops. The promenade and harbour was spectacular. It won’t disappoint. Beach was lovely too.
